Local girls Sangita Minz and Jasobanti Behera were accorded warm felicitation in Bhubaneswar today for representing India in the First Asian Women`s Rugby Sevens Championship at Pattaya in Thailand on May 30 and 31.
Officials of Orissa Rugby Football Association (ORFA) and guests greeted the duo of woman rugby internationals with bouquets and words of encouragement in a function at the Capital High School ground.
India made a disappointing debut in women`s international rugby, losing all of its matches except one. The two Orissa girls, who earlier played kabaddi, hoped that their success would help popularise rugby further in Orissa.
